2013
It Started
with a..........
Saturday, 01 June 2013
12 noon
Millbank, near Tate Britain, LONDON
SW1P 4RG
Everyone was asked to assemble at Millbank, near Tate Britain, SW1P 4RG at 12pm.
The nearest tube station: Pimlico; then people could follow the signs to the Tate
Gallery.
Despite massive scientific, political and popular opposition, the UK
Government’s controversial pilot badger cull was set to begin on 1st June 2013.
Now it is 2016 and badgers are still being killed.
On the same day, people from all walks of life marched to demonstrate public
opposition to a deeply flawed policy. It was a family
friendly positive event and people participated in that spirit.
Such was the success that marches since this date have grown;
they are now held in other areas of the country.
All were asked to wear black and white to show support for the badgers; some
wore badger
masks and costumes.

Here is a video made after this march showing the depth of feeling against
badger culling. A great day tinged with an even greater sadness because of the
need that it had to be organised in the first place. In 2016 we are having to organise more and more.
When will
the government listen?
